EastEnders fans have been left heartbroken by Sean Slater's emotional departure from Albert Square...

Last night's trip to Walford saw Sean Slater make his emotional exit from the Square, little more than a week before he made his long awaited comeback, and fans are bereft.

After it was announced at the start of the year that the epic Rob Kazinsky would be reprising his role as Sean after a decade away from EastEnders, fans knew they were in for a treat.

And we certainly weren't left disappointed after a week packed full of amazing scenes from Sean, but now he has gone and fans can't cope.

His departure from the Square came after an emotional trip to the countryside with his mum, where thankfully, Jean managed to talk a broken Sean out of taking his own life following his confession to her that he killed his dad.

Friday night's episode left fans calling for Rob and actress Gillian Wright, who plays Jean Slater, to win all the awards for their emotional scenes as Jean tried to talk Sean into handing her the shotgun he was clutching closely to him like a lifeline.

Thankfully Jean and Stacey managed to bring Sean back to the Square, but it didn't take long for Sean to work out that he wouldn't be able to get the help he desperately needs in Walford, and checked himself into a clinic for help.

But as Sean said an emotional farewell to Jean and little Amy Branning, fans were heartbroken that he was leaving the Square so soon after arriving.

While Sean might be gone, it remains to be seen if he will be back at any point in the future. All we can hope for is that he doesn't leave it 10 years next time...

EastEnders airs Monday and Friday at 8pm and Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
