EastEnders has been moved to an earlier time this evening

EastEnders fans will have to rush home from work tonight because the soap will now be shown at 7pm, instead of 7.30pm as originally advertised.

And this is bad news for soap fans because it now means that EastEnders clashes with Emmerdale which is also on at 7pm over on ITV. EastEnders this evening sees more drama for Lola Pearce in her bid to win back Jay Mitchell.

Tonight's first Emmerdale episode now clashes with EastEnders

The scheduling drama has been caused by the Women’s World Cup. Tonight’s quarter-final clash was originally scheduled to be on BBC4.

But the Beeb has taken the decision to now show the game on BBC1 because it features England, who’re taking on Norway.

Fans might wonder why the BBC couldn’t have kept the soap on at its normal 7.30pm time and then go over to the footy as the kick off for the England match is 8pm.

However, the Beeb has obviously decided to make sure it captures all the build-up to the big game.

EastEnders has been moving around the schedules a lot recently due to the Women’s World Cup.

Holby isn't on at all next week

However, EastEnders fans have had it easy compared to Holby City viewers. Next week Holby isn't on at all as the BBC is instead next Tuesday showing the first Women’s World Cup semi-final. Holby fans were aghast last week when the show was moved to a different day due to the Beeb screening the Tory leadership debate.

And the schedule changes might not be over as Wimbledon begins next week!

EastEnders is on at the earlier time of 7pm tonight.
