Benidorm, 9.00pm, ITV

It’s a classic bonkers yet brilliant episode tonight – from Russian giants declaring their love to Kenneth, to the Chuckle Brothers making a guest appearance as the great magicians Crostini & Co, Nana deciding Robert’s new love is a drugs mule, and a drunken clown thrown in for good measure. Benidorm at its best – mayhem, verging on the ridiculous, but with great one-liners in an episode that builds to a laugh-out-loud slapstick ending. Rating: ****

One Born Every Minute, 9.00pm, C4

The fly-on-the-wall series returns for an 11th run, this time from a new home – Birmingham Women’s Hospital. Samantha and her partner Tony are on the ward.

“Nothing surprises me any more,” says one of the midwives at Birmingham Women’s Hospital tonight. But when car electrician Ben, 29, passes out without warning, hitting the floor with a thud while his partner Amy, 23, is in labour, it does come as a bit of a shock to all those in the room. Meanwhile, dad-to-be Andreas, 31, is in danger of getting too involved. As a doctor, he knows what can go wrong – so he even wears medical scrubs while his partner Nikoletta, 34, is giving birth. The most moving story is that of Katie, 29, and Sam, 30, who are having their second baby after the heartbreaking loss of their first-born son at eight weeks the previous year. Rating: ****

dinnerladies diaries, 8.00pm, Gold

A three-part series celebrates Victoria Wood’s classic sitcom

A brilliantly funny line like, "This is my daughter, born Christmas Eve, so we called her Brenda" could only have come from the pen of Victoria Wood. It’s just one of the zingers Victoria, who died in 2016, wrote for her friend Julie Walters in the hit sitcom dinnerladies. In this three-part series, those who starred in the show (currently airing daily on Gold) celebrate its 20th anniversary by sharing their memories of it. Among them are Julie, who played Petula, the batty mother of Victoria’s down-to-earth Bren. "In some ways Petula was Victoria’s writing at its best," says Julie. "So off the wall and strange, but truthful and funny and mad." Rating: ****
