Best TV shows on TV tonight
The White Lotus season 2, 9 pm, Sky Atlantic/NOW (box set)
It’s checkout time at the White Lotus, so make sure you’ve packed your suitcases and done a thorough sweep under the bed for any missing earrings ahead of tonight’s finale. The show has weathered its relocation from Hawaii to Sicily well in this second season, displaying plenty of bite and an array of characters who have made for compelling viewing – even if we wouldn’t want to sit next to them at the buffet breakfast. All that remains is to find out who survives their holiday — but the good news is a third season has already been confirmed, with a new cast and location… ★★★★ SP
Strictly Come Dancing 2022: The Results, 8.15 pm, BBC One
It’s all change again — after yesterday’s semi-final was moved from Saturday, here’s the results show on a Monday, while this week’s It Takes Two run kicks off tonight at the later-than-usual time of 9 pm on BBC Two. Got all that? Good, let’s get back to the results, because the couples who have made it through will be going into the final! ★★★★ JP
Trailblazers, 9.30 pm, BBC Two/BBC iPlayer (box set)

On the final leg of their Rocky Mountain trip following in the footsteps of Victorian explorer Isabella Bird, Emily Atack, Mel B and Ruby Wax go Sasquatch-hunting, meet a couple of trailblazing rodeo champions and attempt a challenging climb in honour of Isabella. It’s all very entertaining, but we’ve also enjoyed the trio’s conversations when they’re on the road, some deep — about religion or growing up — some not so deep, such as their Sasquatch chat. Emily initially asks if it’s a vegetable, then there’s some confusion from Mel between a yeti and a jetty, and finally when they wonder if a Sasquatch is similar to a ‘Loch Ness thing’, Ruby declares, ‘No that’s a dragon… I think?’ Yes to another series of this. ★★★★ JP
The Savoy At Christmas, 9 pm, ITV1
Guests are checking in for some extravagant five-star festivities as London’s most famous hotel, the Savoy, throws its doors open for the cameras in the run-up to Christmas. But with expectations high, staff are under a lot of pressure to ensure that all the VIP guests are happy, and that means everything from a perfect £275 per head Christmas menu to decorations in the grand hall costing a cool quarter of a million. Of course, not everything goes to plan and there are concerns about glasses not being polished, a dropped cake and a rather underwhelming Christmas tree in one of the suites. ★★★ HD
Best box set on TV tonight
Motherland, Netflix or BBC iPlayer
With the Motherland Christmas special heading our way in a couple of weeks, it's the perfect time to re-watch or try the original series. The popular BBC comedy explores the trials and traumas of middle-class motherhood with plenty of hilarious and cringeworthy moments along the way.
What's more, it's got an all-star cast including Anna Maxwell Martin, Lucy Punch, Paul Ready, Philippa Dunne and Diane Morgan, who all brilliantly play a variety of parents trying to balance life, work and kids.
Best film on TV tonight
Once again, Sandra Bullock whips out her funny bones, this time partnered with a delightfully droll Channing Tatum. She’s a successful author, he’s her book-cover model who is determined to come to the rescue when Daniel Radcliffe’s bad billionaire kidnaps her. Cue some Romancing the Stone vibes, as the pair end up lost in the jungle with only their limited survival knowledge to help them. Brad Pitt is superb in a cameo as a daring adventurer, as is Da’Vine Joy Randolph as Bullock’s no-nonsense agent. Even if the whole enterprise could have been sharper and the finale goes through the motions, there is a whole lot of fun to be had in Bullock and Tatum’s company. ★★★ NP
