Mr Casualty, AKA Charlie Fairhead, is in fighting form tonight. After a holiday in Kos - the home of the Father of Medicine, Hippocrates – he’s inspired to turn around the fortunes of the ED. Unfazed by a shortage of beds, ambulances queuing up outside, patients in corridors, and staff morale at an all time low, our Charlie clears resus and secures additional staff. But his victory is short-lived. By the end of the shift the hospital remains overwhelmed and Sah’s been assaulted. Will the NHS veteran sink into despair? Elsewhere, David befriends a convicted poisoner in his mission to understand Ollie’s killer motives…

Following the shocking discovery that Agatha (Laura Carmichael) has become pregnant in prison, questions are being asked about the father’s identity. But, as events jump to Meghan’s mysterious arrest, will the troubled mum finally talk?

We’re surely more familiar than ever with our beaches as many people opt for staycations to avoid travel chaos or just head to the coast for cooler temperatures during the hot spells we’ve had this summer. As this series returns, Anita Rani visits Cornwall to discover the hidden stories behind its 420 miles of coastline. She tries lobster fishing at Padstow, learns about smuggling at Polperro and finds out about the ingenious Victorian engineering buried beneath the sand at Porthcurno beach.

Marriage, BBC iPlayer

Fans of Stefan Golaszewski (Him & Her, Mum) are in for a treat, as the writer-director debuts his new series. TV heavyweights Sean Bean and Nicola Walker star as couple Ian and Emma, who are far from wedded bliss as they approach their 27th anniversary. Ian is in freefall after being made redundant, while Emma is quietly thrilled by the attentions of her boss, Jamie (an excellently obnoxious Henry Lloyd-Hughes). An intense look at the minutiae of married life, which for singles may feel like a blink-and-you-miss it backwater; for couples, it’s an eye-opening drive through the intricate landscape of long-term relationships. All four episodes are now available on BBC iPlayer.

Best film to watch on TV tonight

The World is Not Enough, 8 pm, ITV

TV tonight Pierce Brosnan as Bond.

As ITV continues its Saturday-night run of Bond films, tonight we’ve reached 1999’s The World Is Not Enough. At the outset of his third outing as 007, Pierce Brosnan has a spectacular boat chase up the River Thames – for many years the longest pre-credits sequence in Bond films, until last year’s No Time to Die weighed in at 23 minutes plus. Robert Carlyle is Bond villain Renard, immune to pain because of a bullet lodged in his brain, while Sophie Marceau, Denise Richards and Robbie Coltrane also co-star.
