Created by My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way, The Umbrella Academy is a series based on Gerard's comic books of the same name.

Like the comics, the show revolves around the dysfunctional Hargreeves family, a group of children with superpowers who are adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves and turned into a crimefighting team who are tasked with saving the world by Sir Reginald.

The bizarre team fractures as the children become teenagers. After hearing news of their adoptive father's death, the surviving six members of the so-called Umbrella Academy reunite to uncover the mystery of their adoptive father's death, and to prevent an imminent apocalypse.
