Gino’s Italian Coastal Escape, 8.30pm, ITV
Gino’s Adriatic adventure continues as he heads south from Venice to the beautiful city of Ravenna, famous for its ancient Christian mosaics. Gino is left speechless (no mean feat!) by the stunning artwork that adorns the walls and ceilings of its churches. The city is also famed for a type of sandwich called a piadina, made with flatbreads. Gino creates two types – one with roasted vegetables and pesto, the other with ham and smoked cheese. His journey then continues to the fifth- smallest nation in the world, San Marino, where Gino fulfils a promise to his mother and makes a delicious-looking panettone and honey pudding. Rating: ****
WW1: The Final Hours, 9pm, BBC2
On 8 November 1918, an Englishman, a Frenchman and a German met on a train to talk peace. Admiral Rosslyn Wemyss had an agenda to protect Britain’s seas, France’s Marshal Foch had seen his land decimated by war and was set on dismantling Germany, while politician Matthias Erzberger had been sent to negotiate on behalf of a nation on its knees. This film tells the story of that extraordinary secret meeting. Rating: ****
Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70, 9pm, BBC1
Next week (14th November) Prince Charles celebrates a big birthday. The BBC is marking the occasion and paying tribute to his 50 years of public service with a special documentary. Film-maker John Bridcut has had exclusive access to the Prince over the past year and talks to those who know him best, the Duchess of Cornwall, and his sons, the Dukes of Cambridge and Sussex. A portrait of, and tribute to, the country’s longest-serving heir to the throne. Rating: ****
