100 Years Younger in 21 Days, 9.00pm, ITV

Few celebrities are happy about the ageing process, so now, eight very game famous faces aim to slow it down by taking part in a gruelling rejuvenation regime in Sardinia, where locals have a high life expectancy. After they all get sobering news about how their brain, body and face ages differ vastly from their real ages, they have to work to trim 100 years off their scores between them. Though some are soon led astray by booze, they also try some quirky cutting-edge treatments to reduce their wrinkles. The sight of June Brown having amorous snails crawl over her face and Roy Walker and Russell Grant getting coffee enemas will stay with us for a very long time! Rating: ****

Secrets of the National Trust,8.00pm, C5

Alan Titchmarsh pokes around more properties looked after by the National Trust, starting with Hardwick Hall, a 16th-century Derbyshire mansion built by Countess of Shrewsbury Elizabeth Talbot, one of the most powerful women of the Elizabethan age. It’s surprisingly modern-looking, thanks to all the glass – which was then a very expensive product – and Bess was so proud of her creation that she had huge stone initials put on the roof, so everybody knew who lived there. Alan also sends Jenni Bond down a copper mine to see where the money came from to pay for it all. Rating: ***

Shetland, times vary, BBC1

A lot of questions need answering in tonight’s episode of Shetland. For starters, has Thomas Malone brutally killed former police informant Benny Ray? Who is Alan Killick’s real father? And are both Alan and his mysterious father killers? Later, there’s a dramatic change of pace when Sally’s murder case leads Jimmy and Tosh to a sinister Norwegian far right group, who make the dour Donna look like Pollyanna. Rating: ****
