Simon Gregson reveals when he's returning to Coronation Street

Coronation Street’s Simon Gregson has revealed that he will definitely be returning to the cobbled streets and viewers will be able to watch him on screen from April/May this year.

Speaking exclusively to OK! Simon confirmed he will start filming again as the Rovers Return landlord soon.

He said: “I’m pretty sure I’m starting back filming next month, but I won’t be back on screen until April/May.”

His absence from the ITV soap has been explained by his character Steve McDonald’s visit to see twin brother Andy in Spain.

Viewers took to social media to express disappointment in September when they noticed that Simon wasn’t a part of the live show.

A Facebook campaign was started to get Simon back on Corrie.

The 41-year-old actor seemed flattered. He said: “How can you not be touched? It’s really nice.”

Simon was on paternity leave as he and his wife Emma Gleave were expecting a third child.

In the interview with OK!, the couple revealed details about the dramatic birth last month that sounds like a soap opera ordeal in what Emma called 'the most painful experience' she had ever had.

After an agonising four-week labour she eventually had to have her waters broken by the doctor.

But Simon is more than ready to get back to the show saying he looks forward to resuming work with his co-stars. “I’ve missed the banter and the playing about. It’s not a job, is it? When you’re just playing the fool and being daft, it’s just good fun. I’m looking forward to getting back to being the old Steve McDonald.”
