Hayley Tamaddon: 'I feel under huge pressure as an ex Dancing on Ice winner'

Coronation Street star Hayley Tamaddon is among the 14 celebrities taking part in a special All-Stars series of Dancing on Ice (ITV, Sunday). After skating to victory in 2010, can Hayley go all the way and be crowned Dancing on Ice All-Stars champion?

So how does it feel to be back on the ice?

"Four years on, the show is much harder now, but I'm loving every minute of it. It's a bit more stressful on the body and I'm not as experienced as the people who've appeared on the show more recently, so it's a bit like getting back on a bike and starting again."

Are you pleased to be reuniting with your friend and pro-skating partner, Dan Whiston?

"It's a dream come true really. Skating together is amazing - we're just grabbing the bull by the horns and enjoying it because you never know when it will end. We're loving being back together."

How have you found training this time round?

"I'm focusing really hard because I've got so much to learn; all new step sequences and tricks that I've never done before. I've got all these aches, pains, popped ribs and pulled muscles, but I'm just taking my painkillers or having a nice vodka and tonic in the evening and I'm sorted!"

Is there anything you want to achieve on the show that you perhaps felt you didn't last time?

"I'd like to skate more on my own and not depend on Dan so much. Last time, I was petrified to let go of him, so this time I need to prove that I can skate rather than just be carried."

Does the fact that this year is an All-Stars competition - past competitors who have achieved a very high standard on the show - add to the pressure?

"As a former winner, I feel under huge pressure to do well again and this time I'm up against some fantastic skaters. But, really, it's about proving to myself that I can still do it."

Have you already got your eye on the prize?

"Oh, I'm sure everybody's got their eye on that prize! I'm just going to work hard and aim for the final - that's my goal. If I can get to that point, then maybe I can look at the prize!"

There's a long road ahead until then... and you'll be appearing as Steve's mate Andrea in Coronation St at the same time! How will you fit everything in?

"At the moment, while I'm training, I'm finishing filming on Corrie at 7 o'clock then I'll skate until 11 o'clock a night - it's mental! Everybody on Corrie has been really supportive of Dancing on Ice and I'm sure a few of the cast will come down to support me. I feel like the luckiest girl alive right now - I'm doing two jobs that I love. I feel really blessed."
