Ian is cheating with Glenda, but the idea that Jane nearly cheated with Mas sends him into a frenzy says EastEnders' Laurie Brett... What are Jane’s feelings for Ian? "She loves him, but she can’t stand him at the moment. She has given him every opportunity to be honest about Lucy’s abortion, but he’s continued to lie to her." Why is she with Masood? "They meet up in a hotel bar to talk through their relationship problems." Have they gone there to get physical? "No, but when Kat and Ryan walk past, Masood grabs Jane and kisses her so that they’re not spotted. That’s quite a giggly moment. They wonder why they are there and Jane says ‘not everyone comes to a place like this for a clandestine affair’ and Masood says ‘Is that what this is?’" What happens next? "They get a room. They go in kissing and Jane goes to the bathroom to freshen up." How does Jane feel about Masood? "She fancies him, but it’s not a lust thing like it was with Grant where they just couldn’t wait to get on with it. She has a deep friendship and respect for Masood which you could say is even more dangerous." What happens when Jane comes back into the room? "Masood has been sitting there thinking, ‘Is this really what I want?’ and Zainab keeps trying to call him. When Jane comes out, they have a long chat about why they are there and realise that this isn’t the way to sort out their marriage problems." Is she sorry they don’t sleep together? "No, not at all. But it makes her realise that her marriage is rubbish and that she’s given Ian every chance and has to leave him now." What does Jane tell Ian? "She tells him she’s leaving and admits, ‘I’ve just been in a hotel room with Masood.’" How does Ian respond? "He apologises for lying about the abortion and they have another of their really heavy talks. Ian opens up to her and it ends with Ian placing his hand over Jane’s. It’s a touching moment." Is she staying? "Yes, for the time being." How does she feel when she finds out Ian has punched Masood? "Sorry for Masood. But she doesn’t regret anything. Obviously she doesn’t want Zainab to find out. The two couples have this excruciating meal together where Ian is making all these double entendres and hinting at what’s happened. It makes Masood and Jane really uncomfortable. I don’t often corpse, but we had to start again about eight times because I couldn’t stop laughing. Adam (Woodyatt) does such a good job." Would she dump him if she found out about Glenda? "She’d be very hurt, but I think they might be able to have one of the ‘talks’ and carry on." Might Jane still have an affair with Masood? "That will always be a possibility."
