This first screen outing of the bestselling kids’ books - Captain Underpants - was a long time coming.

DreamWorks wanted the rights when the original instalment was published in 1997, but author Dav Pilkey could not be swayed.

He finally agreed in 2011, and the film hit cinemas last year.

Was it worth the wait? If you’re not a fan of toilet humour, the answer’s no, but this tale of two kids who hypnotise their headmaster into believing he’s a superhero is very silly and very likeable (think Ferris Bueller’s Day Off).

Kevin Hart and Ed Helms provide two of the voices.
