Serena is stunned when her long-distance lover returns from Nairobi - but will she come clean about her relationship with Leah?

After kissing junior doctor Leah Faulkner last week, consultant Serena Campbell has mixed emotions. While she’s feeling guilty about cheating on her long-distance lover Bernie Wolfe, she’s also growing frustrated that Bernie hasn’t returned her calls in three weeks.

Dealing with an urgent case on AAU, Serena (Catherine Russell) decides to stay the night in the on-call room. When Leah stops by with news on the patient, Serena makes it clear she’s feeling "abandoned" by Bernie, so Leah leans in for a kiss! Serena then lets Leah into the on-call room, closing the door behind them…

The next day, however, Serena’s stunned when Bernie turns up unannounced! When she doesn’t receive the warmest welcome, Bernie (Jemma Redgrave) wonders if the long distance is finally taking a toll on their relationship.

Later, she leaves a voicemail for Bernie saying she’s got something to tell her… and she’s not going to like it. When Bernie returns to Holby with shock news of her own, will Serena be able to come clean?

Also, pre-wedding nerves get the better of Dom and Lofty and, concerned for a lonely Frieda, Jac has a gift that she thinks might cheer her up!

Holby City continues on Tuesdays at 8pm on BBC1.
