Romesh’s next holiday with a difference is to Ethiopia in East Africa.
All he knows is that Ethiopia suffers from terrible famines and drought, mainly because Bob Geldolf sang about them, but is there more to this vast country than that?
Alongside his guide, local anthropologist Mike Tamerat, Romesh heads off to discover the country behind the headlines and finds ancient churches, jazz musicians, Rastafarians (including Ras Lumumba, pictured above, who runs a Rastafarian museum in Shashemane) and camels.
But he also discovers a country under the grip of a repressive political regime, which has caused so many decades of turmoil.
It’s a confusing and conflicting place but one also full of a unique natural beauty and great possibility for change.
