Niamh has an appointment with Ryan, a teen who uses a video blog to discuss his terminal cancer. But, although Ryan is depressed, he certainly doesn't have cancer, let alone the terminal kind. When Niamh learns from an unwitting admirer about Ryan's vlog, she goes to see him immediately. Niamh's disgusted - his pretending to be terminal undermines all those genuinely suffering. When it transpires Ryan has been taking donations from his online followers, Niamh insists he return the money and confess to his contributors, which he does.

But Ryan's still got problems - he keeps himself locked away in his room and doesn't interact with his mother Sue at all. Ryan convinces Niamh he'll make an effort with her but this turns out to be a ploy purely to get her off his case. Later, an exchange with a mysterious friend in an internet chat room suggests there is something much darker on the horizon for Ryan...

Rob wants the family day to be perfect for Karen but Immie soon decides she's had enough and stomps off to 'work'. When it's revealed Immie's work is an art project all about Karen, memory and identity, Rob thinks it's exploitative but Karen's fascinated and finds it helps her see things from Immie's perspective. Karen has a genuine maternal moment when she realises how great her kids are and it looks like she and Rob might end up in bed together again at last...
