John Travolta, Uma Thurman and Bruce Willis are among the ensemble cast of writer-director Quentin Tarantino's scintillating thriller.

Mixing violence, dark comedy and action to bravura effect, the four-story jigsaw puzzle sees Travolta as a hit man whose casually amoral lifestyle includes dancing the twist with Thurman, talking about hamburgers and life with his sidekick Samuel L Jackson and meeting Harvey Keitel after a very bloody accident.

Jackson enjoys every line of his commanding dialogue, the crazy suspense sequence involving Willis' weary boxer and a murderous shopkeeper defies description (you have been warned) and the way in which the movie finally ties up its separate parts, which also takes in young crooks on the run Tim Roth and Amanda Plummer, is breathtaking.

Contains violence, bad language, drug abuse - and lots of very, very funny moments.
