Streep makes a tough, resourceful heroine and Bacon puts a smooth, smiling spin on his villain ('I am a nice guy, just a different kind of nice guy'), which sparks well against Strathairn's uptight character.
This nail-biting thriller starts off calmly but then tumbles into a torrent of tension and the storm-tossed stuntwork is real white-knuckle stuff.
