Pushy, control freak Canadian boss Sandra Bullock forces her hapless assistant Ryan Reynolds into a marriage of convenience so that she can stay in the US.
Then the pair head off to his delightfully eccentric folks in Alaska - scatty mom Mary Steenburgen, grumpy dad Craig T Nelson and crazy grannie Betty White. Grannie's coming up to 90, so she suggests a joint celebration - her birthday and the couple's wedding.
They are horrified, but go through the motions with the family and, via the usual romcom mishaps and misunderstandings, start falling in love.
This may be all very predictable, but it's really enjoyable. Bullock performs the city girl fish-out-of-water comedy perfectly, Reynolds makes a lovely job of his role and the supporting cast is a lot of fun.
