The Strictly Halloween special gave its biggest fright to DJ Scott Mills, who faced This Morning’s Alison Hammond in the dance-off - and lost.
That Scott was in the bottom two was no shock, the shock was that it was Alison there with him, not tennis coach Judy Murray, who had been bottom of the leaderboard on Saturday night.
"I realise I'm the worst dancer," Judy said, after the results on Sunday. "I'd just like to thank people for keeping me in for one more week."
Scott has performed consistently badly, too, though and his Addams Family-themed foxtrot with Joanne Clifton didn’t impress any of the judges…
“You should do a panto,” Bruno Tonioli told Scott.
“Halloween’s all about the supernatural,” head judge Len Goodman added. “That foxtrot wasn’t super and it wasn’t natural.”
And the voting public agreed.
Alison’s American Smooth with Aljaz Skorjanec wasn’t pure magic for the judges, either, though…
But, lowered to the dance floor on a swing, in a routine inspired by Wuthering Heights, Alison loved it.
“I felt like I smashed it,” she said.
Craig Revel Horwood didn’t agree… “It was very ethereal and angelic - until you got to the floor,” he said to Alison. “There was too much wafting.”
“You get slightly carried away,” added Darcey Bussell.
And Bruno went further… “It was a hurricane of emotion. I thought I’d be blown off the stage,” he told Alison.
But it was still better than Scott's performance… wasn't it?
After the dance-off the judges had to choose - and there was one last Halloween shock: Craig, Darcey and Bruno voted for Alison to stay - but Len said he would have kept Scott.
"I think this was my best dance," said Scott, "so I went out on a high."
