Love, Actually - Top 10 Romantic Films.jpg

Love, Actually , 2003

Director: Richard Curtis

A festive flick that follows the lives of eight couples struggling with love in the city of London, Love, Actually is a brilliantly British example of all things to expect from a film about love.

The star-studded cast includes such familiar faces as Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Bill Nighy, Emma Thompson and the late Alan Rickman, but the characters are rather more unexpected. What other rom-com could boast a questionably young Prime Minister, a pair of shy sex scene body doubles and an old rock star hoping to resurrect his career?

Even so, the film ticks all the boxes for a great romantic film by portraying typical and some not so typical love stories. As clichéd as it may sound, there is something for everyone as (here comes the second cliché) love has no boundaries in this story.

Best Movie Quote: “But the truth is, I’m in love and there’s nothing I can do about it.”
