Best TV shows on TV tonight
The White Lotus season 2, 9 pm Sky Atlantic / NOW
The first season of this satirical comedy-drama followed a group of affluent and awful holidaymakers at a Hawaiian resort hotel. There’s a new cast and location – Sicily – for season two, but we’re delighted to confirm these vacationers are every bit as compellingly appalling. Highlights in this opener include Homeland’s F. Murray Abraham as a flatulent Lothario looking for long-lost relatives; Parks and Recreation’s Aubrey Plaza as an uptight lawyer irritated by the narcissistic best friend (Sanditon’s Theo James) of her husband (Giri/Haji’s Will Sharpe); and the return of Jennifer Coolidge as emotionally incontinent Tanya, who’s carrying a lot of baggage – metaphorically and literally. ★★★★★ SP
The Pact season 2, 9 pm, BBC One, iPlayer (box set)
The plot developments are coming thick and fast tonight, even if there’s still no sign of the titular pact we were promised. It’s clearly going to be a dark deal once it finally arrives, and Christine (Rakie Ayola), whom we trust less and less every minute, is the odds-on favourite to be – or have been – its architect. After trying to bribe Connor (Jordan Wilks) to leave last week, now she wants the man claiming to be her son to do a DNA test, but the results leave us with lots of questions. We think Christine’s friend Beth (Lisa Palfrey) knows more than she’s letting on. ★★★★ SMA
The Walk-In, 9 pm, ITV / ITV Hub (box set)

The three neo-Nazis charged with plotting to kill MP Rosie Cooper finally face trial, as ITV’s true story reaches its intense finale. But as soon as nervous whistleblower Robbie Mullen (Andrew Ellis) takes the stand to deliver his make-or-break evidence, he crumbles under the pressure and disappears, leaving Hope Not Hate journalist Matthew Collins (Stephen Graham) in a race against time to help him find the courage to finish what he started. Expect a fitting tribute to murdered MP Jo Cox as the drama concludes. Undercover Nazi Hunter: The Real Walk-In, a documentary based on the case, featuring previously unreleased police footage and Collins’ own account of events is on later tonight (times vary). ★★★★★ HD
The Travelling Auctioneers, 4.30 pm, BBC One
The Repair Shop meets Antiques Road Trip in a daytime mash-up that will satisfy fixer-upper fans. Will Kirk and Christina Trevanion take their blue van, emblazoned proudly with an Auction & Restoration mascot, in search of hidden gems to turn into auction lots. They visit one family home at a time, to have a good old sort through their belongings and use their combined skill sets to breathe new life into tired objects in a bid to make a profit. Filled with practical tips aplenty, this just may help those looking for ways to make extra cash. ★★★ NT

Social worker Lucy Chambers springs awake at 3.33 am every morning – a time known as the ‘devil’s hour’. In this nail-biting six-part thriller with a supernatural edge, Jessica Raine plays Lucy, a haunted and overburdened mother who has recently separated from her husband. Lucy is also struggling with the demands of caring for her schizophrenic mother and her troubled eight-year-old, Isaac, who she takes to see a child psychiatrist (Meera Syal). Meanwhile, a murder is being investigated by DI Ravi Dhillon (Nikesh Patel) and DS Holness (Alex Ferns), one with bizarre links to Lucy’s visions and connected to a murder-obsessed stranger, Gideon, played by Peter Capaldi. Best film on TV tonight
Muppets Haunted Mansion, Disney Plus
If you’re looking to celebrate, but don’t want the kids too freaked out, look no further than the Muppets’ first Halloween special, in which Gonzo is challenged to spend a night in the scariest place on Earth – the Haunted Mansion found in Disney theme parks. There’s new music and some fabulous celebrities, including Glee star Darren Criss as The Caretaker. A must for Muppet-mad fans who are brave enough for a silly spookathon! The 2003 source film starring Eddie Murphy, The Haunted Mansion, is also available on Disney Plus. ★★★★ NC
