Great Expectations, 9 pm, BB One

After a tantalising glimpse of Miss Havisham (the ever-brilliant Olivia Colman) last week, now the manipulative recluse really gets into her stride. While she cruelly toys with the affections of young Pip (Tom Sweet, and later Fionn Whitehead), the companion to her ward Estella (Chloe Lea, and later Shalom Brune-Franklin), she also sets about teaching him the ways of high society so that he can fulfil his ambition to become a gentleman. But as Pip reaches adulthood, she writes an intriguing letter to her ruthless London lawyer Mr Jaggers (Ashley Thomas). What dark new scheme does she have up her (rather moth-eaten!) sleeve?

Grace, 8 pm, ITV1/ITVX (box set)

DS Roy Grace (John Simm) and DS Branson (Richie Campbell) back to back

DS Roy Grace (John Simm) almost got a glimpse of his missing wife Sandy in the final moments of last week’s episode, so is a reunion between the couple on the cards in this series finale? Time will tell, but it would be a gripping bombshell, not least because Sandy now seems to have a child back in Germany. And to think, poor Cleo (Zoe Tapper) has barely had a chance to unpack her belongings after moving in with Grace last week! However, there isn’t much time for the Brighton detective to worry about his personal life tonight, after he uncovers a sinister plot to harm a promising musician and makes a nasty discovery at a pig farm.

The Great Celebrity Bake Off, 7.40 pm, Channel 4

The fight for the Star Baker Apron could get tense as Olympic diver Tom Daley confesses, ‘I would love to win!’, actor David Morrissey admits to having a ‘competitive streak’ and DJ Adele Roberts has been taking lessons from her girlfriend, although comic Lucy Beaumont admits her skills are ‘dreadful’! For the Signature, they ‘unleash the quiche’. Then, after a Technical involving a biscuit treat, for the Showstopper, they have to create their perfect day in cake form, with some very interesting results!

Wild Isles, 7 pm, BBC One

Sir David Attenborough turns his attention to our rivers, streams and wetlands in tonight’s fourth episode. They are habitats rich in wildlife such as beavers, Atlantic salmon and tiny water shrew which catch prey underwater using their unique venomous saliva! Also caught on camera is the dangerous journey of tiny toadlets, as they travel from the pond where they were born to nearby woodland where they will spend most of their adult lives. However, to get there, they must cross a ‘killing zone’ inhabited by giant leeches that eat the toadlets whole! Watching the baby toads run the gauntlet makes for gripping, horror-movie-style viewing.

Chasing the Rains, 8 pm, Sky Nature/NOW (box set)

The dulcet tones of Bridgerton’s Adjoa Andoh provide the narration for this stunning four-part sofa-safari, which follows animal families as they chase the rains before periods of intense drought. It begins in Kenya’s Samburu Reserve, where elephant matriarch Anastasia brings her family of 80 to the river during this short period of abundance. We also meet five male cheetahs, which, surprisingly, don’t get the better of a feisty herd of wildebeest. And in the Masai Mara, alpha female African dog Phoenix emerges with her five young pups close at heel…

New political thriller The Night Agent follows a low-level FBI agent who works nights in the basement of the White House manning a phone line for undercover spies that never rings. But one day, it does, setting into motion a chain of events that uncovers a conspiracy that reaches all the way to the Oval Office.

Gabriel Basso leads the cast as agent Peter Sutherland, who soon crosses paths with a terrified civilian named Rose Larkin, who he has to protect throughout the series. This is the perfect binge watch for for fans of twisty thrillers!

Daniel Craig’s fourth James Bond adventure sees him lighten up, swaggering through a movie that revels in the series’ illustrious heritage. The plot sends 007 on another globe-hopping quest in pursuit of the shadowy criminal organisation that has been dogging his previous three missions. The action set pieces are first-class, Craig is in his element and co-stars Léa Seydoux and Ben Whishaw are terrific.
