Jade Goody fortune 'wiped out by tax'

The legacy left by reality TV star Jade Goody to her sons has reportedly been wiped out by a huge tax bill - leaving her estate facing bankruptcy.

According to The Sun Jade - who died of cervical cancer in 2009 aged just 27 - left boys Bobby and Freddie £1m.

However a larger than average tax bill on her beauty salon in Harlow, Essex, is said to have wiped out much of the fortune left behind.

The figures emerged after the Inland Revenue ruled that business expenses and losses on the salon, Ugly's, were not eligible for tax relief.

The estate's trustee Danny Hayward told the paper that the losses was putting her sons' private education - which she was determined to secure financially before her death - at risk.

“Jade was determined to give the boys the education she never had," Hayward told the paper.

“We’ve paid their private school fees to the end of the year but we can’t after that. Jade would be heartbroken.”

He said the situation was 'shocking' - but added they planned to 'fight it Jade-style to fulfil her last wishes for the boys'.

Jade sprang to stardom after appearing on the 2002 series of Big Brother, becoming one of the most famous housemates to emerge from the series.

She passed away on Mother's Day 2002, just weeks after marrying fiance Jack Tweed in a lavish ceremony.
