Coronation Street enjoyed top soap ratings, as more than 6.5 million viewers tuned in on Friday, August 28 to watch Callum (Sean Ward) take a beating from Tony (Terence Maynard).

Nearly 6 million viewers watched the Shabnam (Rakhee Thakrar) and Kush (Davood Ghadami) baby tragedy unfold in EastEnders, while 5.5 million Emmerdale fans watched the impact of Ross’s (Michael Parr) return from the dead continue to be felt around the village.

In Corrie, Liz (Beverley Callard) stopped Tony from hurting Callum as badly as Callum has hurt Jason - but this fight isn’t over. Callum made that quite clear.

“You’re going to regret this, old man,” he managed to spit out, before he limped away.

And we know that Callum’s war with an increasing number of residents on the Street is going to reach its climax in Coronation Street’s live episode in September.

“Something bad’s going to happen,” Callum warns David (Jack P Shepherd). “None of your family’s safe.”

Especially Max (Harry McDermott). The little boy rejects Callum as his father and angry Callum chases Max - into the path of a car.

“The ongoing feud between the Platts and Callum will be at the heart of the live episode,” Corrie boss Stuart Blackburn revealed. “Decisions are going to be made that start with Sarah [Tina O'Brien] stupidly thinking she can get one over on Callum. From that point on, all decisions will have ripple effects for years to come.”

Coronation Street continues on ITV, Monday, August 31, 7.30pm.
