EastEnders preview: someone’s stolen Stan’s ashes…and Mick knows who the thief is

EastEnders’ mother and son, Shirley (Linda Henry) and Mick Carter (Danny Dyer), are set to come to blows over Stan’s ashes – and things get messy.

Mick and Shirley fall out - again - over what to do with the ashes in episodes due to air in September.

Shirley arrives at the Queen Vic to take charge of her father's ashes, but Mick doesn't want to give up what remains of his grandfather.

They both have their hands on the urn and, as they struggle to keep hold of it, the urn falls to the floor – spilling the ashes all over the pub.

Well, Stan (Timothy West), who died in April, was fond of the place but probably didn't want to end up being walked all over by the locals.

Then Mick, Shirley and Tina (Luisa Bradshaw-White) are all knocked for six when they realise that the mess on the floor isn't Stan's ashes at all… Someone's nicked them.

And it doesn't take Mick long to work out who the thief is.

Is Mick going to go straight for Dean (Matt Di Angelo), the half-brother he hates? Or does he suspect someone else?

And will this reunite Mick and Shirley?

We do know that they all go to the seaside to say their final farewell to Stan from our previous picture story here.

The row over the urn will air on the BBC One soap on Tuesday September 1.

EastEnders continues on BBC1, Monday, August 24, 8.00pm.
