Mary dons tartan this week for a trip to Perthshire in Scotland, where she is guest at Scone Palace, home to the Earl and Countess of Mansfield.
Their son Will explains how the stately home was given to an ancestor in 1608 by King James, a reward for saving his life. The River Tay runs through the estate and Mary goes salmon fishing with estate worker Ian.
She’s back in time to cook lunch – cock-a-leekie soup – before gamekeeper Roddy takes her deer stalking or, as Mary says, on ‘deer safari’. Cue a meal of wild salmon, venison Wellington and Cranachan dessert.
