The midwives are stunned to learn that the Somalian mum-to-be has experienced what we now know as FGM (female genital mutilation), which will make it difficult for her to give birth naturally.

There are also tough scenes as Sister Julienne and Sister Monica Joan desperately try to help Sister Mary Cynthia when they learn about her harrowing mental-health treatment.

Meanwhile, under the shadow of the Cuban Missile Crisis, will Trixie throw caution to the wind and stop rebuffing her lovely 'gentleman caller' Christopher?
