Last week’s first episode of this adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s terrifyingly dystopian novel ended with Offred (Elisabeth Moss) vowing to survive – and being warned by Ofglen (Gilmore Girls' Alexis Bledel) that there's a spy in her household.

The two handmaids have finally formed a bond, but is Ofglen to be trusted?

One of the other handmaids later gives birth in a beautifully filmed but utterly creepy scene (imagine an episode of One Born Every Minute being taken over by The League of Gentlemen), and even the scene of the new mother breastfeeding her baby while singing a lullaby is filled with foreboding.

The Handmaid's Tale continues to be unsettling but brilliant TV.
