Mandy's worst fears come true when the sonographer confirms that her unborn child has Spina Bifida

Mandy Richardson (Sarah Jayne Dunn) has been terrified ever since medics raised the possibility that her unborn baby may have Spina Bifida.

Having originally kept the news from Darren (Ashley Taylor-Dawson), she has finally told him but Darren hasn’t handled the situation well and was upset that she’d kept him in the dark.

Mandy has her scan with Darren by her side but all is not well

As Mandy prepares to go to her scan to find out the truth, Darren is initially reluctant to go with her, however a pep talk from his ex, Nancy (Jessica Fox) and his dad Jack (Jimmy McKenna) changes that and he decides that he’ll go to the hospital too.

Sadly, as the sonographer runs the tests, it’s not good news. The anxious couple’s worst fears are confirmed when they’re told the results have come back positive and confirm the baby does indeed have Spina Bifida.

Meanwhile Donna Marie Quinn (Lucy-Jo Hudson) lets slip some news about Romeo and Lily to her daughter Juliet (Niamh Blackshaw) and an angry Juliet starts lashing out at school.
