Matty is concerned with Moira's blind loyalty to Cain

Emmerdale tonight sees Matty Barton sick with worry that his mum Moira is going to stick with “killer” hubby Cain Dingle despite everything he’s done.

The mechanic has pinned Moira up against a fridge in a violent outburst, flung himself at his ex Charity (Emma Atkins) and been nicked for Joe Tate’s murder at the Woolpack.

But despite everything that’s happened in the past shocking week, Matty (Ash Palmisciano) senses that Moira is going to stand by her man.

Fraught Moira is desperate to get an update on Cain (Jeff Hordley) following his arrest over the death of his daughter Debbie’s fiancé.

A flabbergasted Matty can’t understand why his mum would want to support Cain after everything he’s done and is disturbed by her actions.

However, Natalie J Robb, who plays Moira, can understand her character’s behaviour. Talking about Cain’s move on Charity, she says: “It’s a bitter pill for Moira to swallow. But she can find it in her heart to forgive Cain. They’re similar in many ways – they both make mistakes, but they’re not pre-mediated; it’s just both of them lashing out.”

Meanwhile in Emmerdale – which last night triumphed at the NTAs winning the Serial Drama award – Bob’s bleak midwinter continues.
