EastEnders star Steve McFadden has been arrested and spent a day in custody following claims that he assaulted the mother of his baby. According to the News Of The World the 51-year-old, who plays Phil Mitchell in the soap, is alleged to have attacked Dr Rachel Sidwell at his £2m North London mansion. Rachel, who gave birth to their daughter Amelie in June 2009, has reportedly made other complaints against the star dating back a year. Steve, who denies all the claims, has been bailed until January and until then is reportedly not allowed to approach Rachel or members of her family. "On Wednesday, officers from Haringey arrested a 51-yearold man in connection with alleged harassment to cause violence against a female," a Scotland Yard spokesman said on Saturday night. He has been bailed until January 2011." Steve and Rachel first met through Steve's EastEnders co-star Cliff Parisi, who plays Minty. She left her husband and two children to move in with the star, but they broke up within weeks of Amelie's birth.
