A fun animated adventure. 3/5 stars
With school out for the winter holiday break, the kids in a small mountain village divide into two armies for the snowball fight to end them all.
While sensitive, bugle-playing Luke (voiced by Angela Gallupo) marshals his troops, new girl Sophie (Lucinda Davis) rallies her smaller forces to defend the magnificent snow fort designed by local brainbox Frankie (Sandra Oh).
This enjoyable animated remake of the hit 1984 French-Canadian live-action children's film La guerre des tuques wraps lots of boisterous fun around a gentle anti-war message - and also has a surprisingly sad side, too, involving the title canine character.
This film premieres on Saturday 22nd June.

A film critic for over 25 years, Jason admits the job can occasionally be glamorous – sitting on a film festival jury in Portugal; hanging out with Baz Luhrmann at the Chateau Marmont; chatting with Sigourney Weaver about The Archers – but he mostly spends his time in darkened rooms watching films. He’s also written theatre and opera reviews, two guide books on Rome, and competed in a race for Yachting World, whose great wheeze it was to send a seasick film critic to write about his time on the ocean waves. But Jason is happiest on dry land with a classic screwball comedy or Hitchcock thriller.
