Home and Away, Colby Thorne, Dean Thompson

Colby's plan to help best buddy Dean beat his addiction to sleeping pills takes a dramatic turn when Dean suddenly collapses...

Dean Thompson has refused to go to hospital to deal with his sleeping pills addiction. So he and policeman buddy Colby Thorne are now in a hotel room attempting to detox the drugs from Dean's body.

However, as Dean starts to go cold turkey and get the shakes, he panics and flips out...

When he attempts to leave the hotel room, Colby blocks his path and the friends get into a scuffle. Dean blames Colby for involving him in the murder of Colby's hated stepdad, Ross Nixon, and wishes he had listened on that fateful day and not pulled the trigger.

Dean's words start to hit home as Colby sees the state of his best mate and realises he sacrificed his short-lived marriage to Chelsea Campbell because of his revenge on Ross.

But suddenly things take a terrible turn as Dean collapses! Will he be OK?

Simon has long been a fan of soap operas, and especially loves OVER-THE-TOP plots involving evil twins, hair-pulling catfights and natural disasters. Anyone remember the Sunset Beach earthquake/tidal wave? Or when Krystle Carrington got locked in the attic and replaced by look-a-like Rita in Dynasty?!

Simon has written for a variety of TV and childrens’ magazines/websites including Inside Soap, Nickelodeon, What’s On TV, Radio Times, Metro, Girl Talk, Disney Girl, Toxic! and Digital Spy. He has reported LIVE from the red carpet at The British Soap Awards interviewing glammed-up stars from soapland, and hosted a Facebook LIVE session for Metro with Home and Away legend Ray Meagher (Alf "Stone the flamin' crows!" Stewart) to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Aussie soap.

Simon is also co-author of The Treasures Of Coronation Street (Carlton Books)

And the writer and director of (very!) low budget fright flick, Midsummer Night's EVIL and the sequel webisodes series, The Hatchet Woods HORROR.
