There's horror heading for Coronation Street's Shona Ramsey next week when son Clayton is brutally beaten in prison and ends up being rushed to hospital.

The week gets off to a bad start for the traumatised mum when she gets home to find a DVD on her doormat.

It's only when she watches it she is sickened to realise that someone has broken into the house and filmed her while she is sleeping.

Terrified but knowing it has something to do with Clayton, Shona goes to see her son in prison, and is soon demanding answers.

Shona feels guilty about her son's attack

Clayton tells her that it was prison bullies that were behind the prank, and that if she doesn't help him soon, then they'll be after her as well.

Later that day Shona is cornered by two dodgy looking men in the barbers and she is terrified when they start making demands.

But her trouble with Clayton is soon discovered when Nick walks in and demands to know what is going on.

Nick is then intrigued to see Shona take a suspicious looking package from two blokes in the street, and knows she is caught up in something illegal. But will she confess everything when he asks her for the truth?

Shona is shocked to see the state Clayton is in

The next day Shona is horrified when she gets a phone call to say Clayton has been beaten up in prison and rushed to hospital... and when she goes to see her boy nothing can prepare her for the state he's in.

Clayton is in a very bad way and Shona can't help but think that she could have helped her son more... and her guilt is made even worse when Clayton reveals he wishes she had died recently, and not his dad.

But despite going through the mill, Shona still hasn't told David what's been going on, worried about what he will think given Clayton's connection to Kylie.

Shona confesses to David - but she doesn't tell him everything

Coronation Street fans will remember that Shona's son is the one who stabbed David's wife Kylie in broad daylight, before racing off and leaving her to die in the street.

David asks Shona for answers and wants to know why Clayton was beaten up. But while she tells him as much as she can, Shona keeps the truth about the drugs out... still hiding secrets from her boyfriend.
