Doctors spoilers: Karen Hollins discovers a DEAD body!

Doctors, Karen Hollins

Karen has a busy day scheduled with patient visits. But things don't get off to a good start when she finds her first patient dead...

Karen Hollins take centre stage in today's episode, when her patient visits take some unexpected twists and turns. Surgery receptionist Karen is due to see Colin Byfield. But she's in for a shock when she arrives to find he has died!

Despite the sad setback, Karen carries on and goes to see Scarlett Moyes, a young woman with progressive MS. Scarlett has an appointment to discuss Personal Independent Payment (PIP) - for people with mobility needs.

She is dreading going and having to justify herself. Can Karen lend support when Scarlett finds herself being assessed by the no-nonsense, by-the-book, Brandon Maynard?

But Scarlett's appointment takes a dramatic turn when Colin's angry daughter Penny Byfield decides to fight back, disgusted by the way her dad was treated by 'the system'.

Colin, who had mobility issues and was awaiting a hip replacement, was already stressed out by bills and was in pain. But then his freedom was jeopardised when his mobility scooter was taken away. Penny storms down to confront assessor Brandon and blames him for her dad's death.

What a day for Karen!

Doctors continues weekdays at 1:45pm on BBC One

Simon has long been a fan of soap operas, and especially loves OVER-THE-TOP plots involving evil twins, hair-pulling catfights and natural disasters. Anyone remember the Sunset Beach earthquake/tidal wave? Or when Krystle Carrington got locked in the attic and replaced by look-a-like Rita in Dynasty?!

Simon has written for a variety of TV and childrens’ magazines/websites including Inside Soap, Nickelodeon, What’s On TV, Radio Times, Metro, Girl Talk, Disney Girl, Toxic! and Digital Spy. He has reported LIVE from the red carpet at The British Soap Awards interviewing glammed-up stars from soapland, and hosted a Facebook LIVE session for Metro with Home and Away legend Ray Meagher (Alf "Stone the flamin' crows!" Stewart) to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Aussie soap.

Simon is also co-author of The Treasures Of Coronation Street (Carlton Books)

And the writer and director of (very!) low budget fright flick, Midsummer Night's EVIL and the sequel webisodes series, The Hatchet Woods HORROR.
