Zara desperately tries to justify her one-night stand with colleague Sid at Christmas. But it doesn't look like Daniel is in the mood to forgive...

The Mill is abuzz with gossip after the angry showdown between doctors Daniel Granger and Sid Vere, which left Sid on the floor with a bloodied lip!

As nurse Ayesha Lee treats Sid's wound, she wants to know exactly why he was cruising for a bruising from Daniel. When Ayesha eventually guesses Zara and Sid must have slept together, he swears her to secrecy. But will Ayesha be tempted to spread this piece of juicy gossip?

Meanwhile, Zara is shocked to discover Daniel saw her and Sid in bed together. She tries to justify her drunken actions to Daniel. But it appears he is in no mood to forgive her. Could this well and truly be the end for the Carmichael-Granger marriage?

In the aftermath of the punch-up, Mrs Tembe goes into official mode as surgery practice manager and sends Sid home for the rest of the day. But she wants to know if he'll be making a formal complaint against Daniel. Will he?

Elsewhere, Jimmi Clay and policeman Rob Hollins are still doing their best to help Al Haskey get back behind the driving wheel again, after last year's shock car crash, which led to the death of surgery colleague Heston Carter.

Will Al get his confidence back when his friends arrange for him to have a go on a driving simulator at the police driving school?

Doctors continues weekdays at 1:45pm on BBC One

Simon has long been a fan of soap operas, and especially loves OVER-THE-TOP plots involving evil twins, hair-pulling catfights and natural disasters. Anyone remember the Sunset Beach earthquake/tidal wave? Or when Krystle Carrington got locked in the attic and replaced by look-a-like Rita in Dynasty?!

Simon has written for a variety of TV and childrens’ magazines/websites including Inside Soap, Nickelodeon, What’s On TV, Radio Times, Metro, Girl Talk, Disney Girl, Toxic! and Digital Spy. He has reported LIVE from the red carpet at The British Soap Awards interviewing glammed-up stars from soapland, and hosted a Facebook LIVE session for Metro with Home and Away legend Ray Meagher (Alf "Stone the flamin' crows!" Stewart) to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Aussie soap.

Simon is also co-author of The Treasures Of Coronation Street (Carlton Books)

And the writer and director of (very!) low budget fright flick, Midsummer Night's EVIL and the sequel webisodes series, The Hatchet Woods HORROR.
