As Ryder's friends Coco and Raffy prepare to return to Summer Bay High, Ryder is unsure if he'll be joining them for Year 12

Ryder Jackson didn't do himself any favours when he dropped out of school and failed to complete his Year 11 exams. But now, as his friends Coco Astoni and Raffy Morrison prepare to return to Summer Bay High School for Year 12, Ryder could be missing out.

After some help from school principal Maggie Astoni and his teacher aunt Roo Stewart, Ryder was allowed to re-sit the Year 11 exams at the last minute. But with the new school year just about to begin, Ryder still doesn't know if he has passed the exams or not. Will it be good or bad news for Ryder?

Elsewhere, Raffy Morrison is still at odds with big brother Brody Morgan after he publicly revealed she has epilepsy during a cooking tutorial for Leah Patterson's vlog.

Brody is determined to prove he does care about Raffy and orders her a medical ID bracelet with the details of the teenager's condition and his telephone number in case of emergency.

But how will Raffy feel about being 'branded' by the bracelet? Has Brody just made things worse?

Simon has long been a fan of soap operas, and especially loves OVER-THE-TOP plots involving evil twins, hair-pulling catfights and natural disasters. Anyone remember the Sunset Beach earthquake/tidal wave? Or when Krystle Carrington got locked in the attic and replaced by look-a-like Rita in Dynasty?!

Simon has written for a variety of TV and childrens’ magazines/websites including Inside Soap, Nickelodeon, What’s On TV, Radio Times, Metro, Girl Talk, Disney Girl, Toxic! and Digital Spy. He has reported LIVE from the red carpet at The British Soap Awards interviewing glammed-up stars from soapland, and hosted a Facebook LIVE session for Metro with Home and Away legend Ray Meagher (Alf "Stone the flamin' crows!" Stewart) to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Aussie soap.

Simon is also co-author of The Treasures Of Coronation Street (Carlton Books)

And the writer and director of (very!) low budget fright flick, Midsummer Night's EVIL and the sequel webisodes series, The Hatchet Woods HORROR.
