Dune, director Denis Villeneuve's (Arrival, Blade Runner 2049) sci-fi epic, has been available for viewers to watch since Oct. 22, but what ways can you watch one of the best-reviewed movies of the year?

Dune is the latest adaptation of Frank Herbert’s classic sci-fi tome that follows Paul Atreides, the son of a noble family that is entrusted with the protection of the most valuable asset and vital element in the galaxy, called spice, which can only be found on the hostile planet Arrakis. The film stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, Jason Mamoa, Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgård, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Dave Bautista, Chen Chang and Charlotte Rampling.

Watching the trailer you get a taste of the massive world sandbox Villeneuve and company are playing in.

Reviews for Dune have described the film as a “visual feast,” with a scale that is best experienced on the biggest screen possible screen, but you will very soon be able to watch it from home with ease. Read on to learn how.

How to watch ‘Dune’

Dune gave many movie fans the best of both worlds upon its release, debuting both in theaters and on HBO Max on Oct. 22. Those details have changed a bit in the month since its release.

Dune is still playing at many local movie theaters. To see when and where it is playing near you, check your local theater listings and buy a ticket either ahead of time or at the theater; a movie theater subscription deal could help make the trip more affordable. According to Collider, Dune will also make a return to IMAX theaters on Dec. 3 for an undisclosed amount of time.

Should you opt for the movie theater experience, please be aware of your local mask/vaccine guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for you and your fellow moviegoers.

Unfortunately, Dune is no longer available to stream on HBO Max, as its 31-day limited window closed on Nov. 21. It will return to HBO Max in the future and be available for all subscribers to the service, but as to when is still TBD.

Thankfully, there are some more ways for movie fans to watch Dune coming just on the horizon.
