HBO Max has picked up a docu-series on the life of Nicki Minaj

It's hard to dispute the impact that rapper and businesswoman Nicki Minaj has had on her industry. Now, she'll be teaming up with HBO Max and the Emmy nominated director Michael John Warren to tell her story. 

The six-episode project will explore Minaj's personal and professional journey. We'll get a glimpse into how she navigated her roller coaster career as well as her adventure into motherhood. All of Nicki's greatest achievements will be highlighted, but in ways that also acknowledge the work that went in to get her there. Nicki Minaj, Michael John Warren and Aaron L. Gilbert, Brenda Gilbert, Cassandra Butcher Irving Azoff, and Tommy Bruce will serve as executive producers on the documentary.

LOS ANGELES – November 20, 2020 – Nicki Minaj, the most successful female rapper of all time, today announced her new docuseries coming to HBO Max.

Each of the six half-hour episodes of this untitled project will explore Nicki’s brilliantly creative mind and tell the story of her personal and professional journey. With complete honesty, Nicki will guide viewers through the most challenging and fulfilling times in her life, navigating highs, lows and misguided agendas in her stratospheric rise to fame and her journey to motherhood. Nicki’s many achievements include 19 Top 10 Billboard Hot 100 hits, and 114 total entries on the Billboard Hot 100—the record for “Most Billboard Hot 100 Entries Ever by a Female Artist.”

The series is directed by six-time Emmy® nominee Michael John Warren, who made his directorial debut with Jay-Z’s “Fade to Black.” This marks Warren’s third documentary with the iconic rap star. Executive Producers are Nicki Minaj, Michael John Warren and Aaron L. Gilbert, Brenda Gilbert and Cassandra Butcher for BRON Life, Irving Azoff, Tommy Bruce, in association with Creative Wealth Media. BRON Life, the non-scripted arm of BRON Studios, is focused on original docuseries, documentary films and short-form digital content centered around socially relevant themes and topics. The division also recently announced the civil justice series “Homicide or Justified” with famed civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump.
